The cloud now has a silver lining – KYOCERA Cloud Connect

Cloud computing and cloud storage are becoming mainstream in today’s business environment, as  customers want to store and access data from anywhere at any time.  Here we talk with Kyocera’s Product Marketing Manager, George Kharoufeh, about how the cloud works and Kyocera’s new application that has been developed to make access to your data straightforward, reliable and fast.

George can you tell us what is “The Cloud” and how does it work?

“The term cloud computing is used to describe any and all applications and services hosted and run on servers connected to the Internet – servers and applications that individuals do not have to maintain or support themselves. For example if you have an email account with a provider such as Gmail or Yahoo, your messages are stored “in the cloud” and can be accessed from any device at any time. What makes that so exciting is there is really no limit to amount of data businesses and individuals can now access and use. Long gone are the days of saving data to an external device and posting it; users can have it at their finger tips wherever they are in the world”

So how can Kyocera customers use the cloud with their Kyocera devices?

“KYOCERA Cloud Connect is the solution that bridges Kyocera’s products to the cloud service applications publicly available today. The application enables scanning and printing of files in Evernote, a cloud service provider, directly from most Kyocera multifunctional product control panels.”

Can you tell us more about Evernote?

“Evernote is among the world’s fastest growing cloud services with over 34 million users today. The application is a tool for users to “Remember Everything” including captured memos, photos and web articles. Evernote makes it easy to remember things big and small from your everyday life using your computer, phone, tablet and the web. It’s quick and effortless to set up an Evernote account and best of all, its free!”

What functions does KYOCERA Cloud Connect allow users to perform?

The KYOCERA Cloud Connect application allows a user to upload scanned files directly to Evernote from the touch screen control panel of a Kyocera multifunctional product (MFP), removing the need to send scanned files to or from a computer. And when a hardcopy of any document is needed users can retrieve and print files stored in Evernote directly from the Kyocera product in file formats including JPEG, PDF and TIFF”

That sounds great George; can you give us some examples of where KYOCERA Cloud Connect could be used?

“KYOCERA Cloud Connect keeps customers connected wherever they are. This means that you can scan to your account and take the data with you anywhere you go in the world and you can also print anywhere in the world on any Kyocera HyPAS enabled device.
The application allows for easy sharing of data across multiple site offices globally, for example a large legal document can be scanned into the Cloud via Cloud Connect in the Sydney office. It can then be accessed by offices in Kyoto, Los Angeles, London and Singapore – wherever a customer chooses to share the corporate access to their Cloud Connect account for use via a Kyocera HyPAS enabled device.”
