#1 Kyocera Service Partner 2015 – Anthony Petniunas of Ryrie Office Machines

KYOCERA Document Solutions host an annual competition designed to acknowledge and reward their national network of service partners. Anthony Petniunas, from Ryrie Office Machines (Geelong West Vic) won the 2015 Oceania Service Partner award and has just returned from his hosted trip to China, Hong Kong and Japan.


During the trip Anthony met up with the Service Partner winners from Europe, America, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil and Guatemala. As a group they visited factories where they had the chance to view MFP and printer production lines as well as visiting headquarters to meet senior management, giving them greater insight into the workings and philosophy of Kyocera globally.

Kyocera would also like to give a special mention to the second and third place entrants. There can only be one winner, however there are many more great professionals across the region doing fantastic work supporting Kyocera Customers.

Kyocera Service Awards 2015 Is Here!

It’s time again for KYOCERA to invite authorised service partners’ technicians to take part in the 4th annual Kyocera Service Awards. The Service Awards allow authorised partners’ technicians to show off just how much they know while having a bit of fun.Service Awards The first round consist of an online test. From there, the three highest socring technicians proceed to the next round where they undertake a theory component as well as a practical skills test. The winner will be named the “Best Kyocera Technician in Australasia” and win a trophy, an all-inclusive, week-long trip to Japan and Hong Kong to tour the Kyocera headquarters and facilities, and a Kyocera MFP! The two runners up will be awarded with a trophy, a Kyocera MFP and a polo shirt.  So, let the competition begin! Who will take the title of “Best KYOCERA Technician in Australasia”?

How to become the “Best Kyocera Technician in Australasia”? It’s easy – just go to www.kyocera-academy.com and login! Don’t have a login? No worries! If you need to create an account, email us on lms@dau.kyocera.com. You’ll receive your account details and the Service Award test will be available in your personal account. *Don’t forget that you can ALWAYS use the Kyocera Academy to improve your knowledge by completing online training courses – it may also help prepare you for the Service Award test!

The Competition: Round 1: The first stage is open now. Entries close on Sunday, 31 May! The subject areas range from hardware and software problems with printers and multifunction devices to Kyocera’s product and service quality. Go to the Kyocera Academy to take the exam. Don’t forget any participant who scores over 60 percent will receive a Kyocera ceramic pen! Round 2:  The three technicians with the highest scores from Round 1 will head to the Kyocera Head Office in Sydney to test their theory knowledge and practical skills. The technician that manages to correctly diagnose and repair all problems the quickest will be awarded the title of “Best Kyocera Technician in Australasia” and a trip to Japan!

NSW Dealer Software Training 2015

KYOCERA Document Solutions is passionate about giving its customers the materials and training needed to better understand the technology that goes into making our printers and multifunction devices a leading brand.

NSW & Pacific Islands Dealer Manager Chris Rohwer hosted a two-day event for our valued Dealer Channel in New South Wales office.

“It’s a great opportunity for our dealers to meet each other and share experiences,” said Peter Wroblewski, Kyocera NSW General Manager.

Day 1:

The first day was a full-day software training session where Chris presented Kyocera-developed solutions, KYOeasyprint and Teaching Assistant, to over 18 dealers.

After each solution presentation our Sales Engineer Jamie Zois gave a live demonstration and answered many questions.

After lunch, Nuance teamed up with us to educate our dealers on Equitrac and eCopy.

The training session was a great atmosphere for dealers, letting them share tactics and stories with one another as well as network with other like businesses.

“The day was a great success with all of the dealers feeling more familiar with our software,” Chris said. “We’re excited about new potential business opportunities as a result.”

Day 2:

On the second day, we wanted to show our dealers that at Kyocera we work hard, but we play even harder so we headed on down to the Penrith Whitewater Stadium – which was used for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

After a fun but exhausting day out on the rapids, the team sat down for their last hoorah with a buffet lunch where they traded stories about the day.

“Whitewater rafting was awesome,” said Vince Cohen of North Tec. “Thanks to Chris and all of the Kyocera team for putting on dealer activities like this one. It’s very much appreciated and a great way to meet and network with other dealers.”

Business Clean Up Day Australia 2015

The KYOCERA team rolled up their sleeves and donned their finest pair of gloves as they got amongst it at Lane Cove’s Blackman Park for Business Clean-Up Day Australia.

This was our 13th year participating in Business Clean-Up Day and we always try to top what we found from the year before.  This year, we stumbled through endless amounts of spider webs to gather over 5 bags of rubbish and 4 bags of recyclables!

Amongst this year’s crazy finds was:

  •     A Christmas tree base
  •     Two tyres
  •     The side panelling of a car

It took a good hour, a steel rod (that we found) and 3 of our strongest men to remove the two tyres from a flipped over vehicle in the mangroves.  It was a tough challenge but we pulled it off!

“I wasn’t really looking forward to Clean-Up Day,” said Julianna Spence, a first year freshie and self-confessed germaphobe. “But I actually had a blast. It was a great team building experience. Plus, we got to have fun while doing something great for the environment as well as the community.”

After a busy morning of cleaning, the fun continued as the team went to La Piazza for some delicious pizzas and refreshments before heading back to the office for hot showers and to catch up on work.

All in all, it was a great day.

Recycle, Reduce But Don’t Forget You Can Reuse!

During a recent upgrade of its PCs and laptops, KYOCERA Document Solutions found 16 of its retired laptops were still in good working order and possible candidates for re-homing rather than recycling. It approached some local community and neighbourhood groups that it thought might be able to make use of the technology.

Helen Hwang of Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, which supports community well-being through the provision of creative programs and responsive services, was delighted to receive the donation.

 “We at Newtown Neighbourhood Centre are grateful for this timely donation from Kyocera.”

Helen said, “In today’s world, there is a growing digital divide where vulnerable members of the community do not have access to computers and the internet, and lack the experience in using computers.“

Helen continued, “This donation will enable the Centre to not only provide access to computers, but also the opportunity for disadvantaged people to get the experience and training necessary that many of us take for granted – including sending emails, preparing resumes, pursuing interests, and applying online for jobs.

“Thank you again to Kyocera in supporting us to reach our vision to create a more inclusive, resilient, vibrant and self-reliant community.”

Kyocera was thrilled to be able to donate the superseded technology, knowing that a small, community-based organisation could benefit from technology it had outgrown.

Michael Sexton, Kyocera IT Manager, said, “I’m pleased that, as part of Kyocera’s work to ensure we reuse and recycle electrical items in a responsible way, we were able to donate these laptops to such a worthy initiative. It is great to see resources being reconditioned and re-used in the community.”

Twenty-five years since the launch of Clean Up Australia – and it’s still going strong!

Kyocera has been involved in Business Clean Up Day for 12 years and this year, Tuesday 25th February, saw us out and about at local Blackman Park in Lane Cove cleaning up along the riverfront and in amongst the mangroves.

The founder of Clean Up Australia Day, Ian Kiernan, joined us onsite to kick off the day.

We pulled out bags and bags of rubbish and recyclables from the reserve. Amongst the usual recyclables we also removed:

  • A TV remote control
  • old mattress foam (a massive chunk)
  • sections of carpet
  • an old tyre
  • even parts of a car

That’s right – a car!! While we didn’t have the tools to remove the engine and chassis, we were able to remove several large pieces of rusted metal and helped reduce the impact on the mangrove ecosystem. .

It was very satisfying to make a difference in a local area – not to mention great exercise and fun team building!
After a hot shower, we capped off the day with a team lunch of pizza.

To recognise the expertise in quality and service, KYOCERA is inviting all of its contractual partners’ technicians to compete against each other in an exciting contest to prove their skills at the ’KYOCERA Global Service Awards’.

 “Experience your Excellence” by setting the benchmark of service quality.

By participating in the contest, technicians can prove that they are in fact, the best KYOCERA technician in Australia. The national champion will receive the title of ’Australia’s Best KYOCERA Technician’ for 2014. What’s more, they will also win the ’Trip of a Lifetime’ to visit the KYOCERA headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.

The competition is divided into two stages, starting with an online pre-qualification questionnaire. The second stage involves the highest scoring technicians participating in a one-day elimination contest of theoretical and practical knowledge.
